Chess Server

This work deals with the creating, and solving the problem of a chess server. It is about creating a chess server wherewith people can play chess through the Internet or a local network and also on a PC. In the real world the construction of the informational system resembles chess games between two players. According to the basic rules of chess the control of the right movements, the analysis of special movements like taking a figure and also rooking, projection and the analysis of checks and mates on the king are solved. During the game statistics of the movements are kept and after the end of the game the performance of the players are calculated by the virtue of record and statistics are kept about the gained ELO (rating) points.

Czech church duringthe reign of Premysl Otakar I.

This work deals with the person and period of Přemysl Otakar I and above all with the Bohemian church, which at this time was fighting for its independence. I attempt here to describe Přemysl's achievement of a great success in the form of the Golden Bull of Sicily. I also address the ecclesiastical struggle that Bishop Ondřej conducted with the king. This whole struggle between church and state culminated in great privileges issued to the church by Přemysl Otakar I. In this work I describe both these successes, ecclesiastical and statebuilding. I approach this struggle from the position of the church and from the position of the state and in conclusion I summarise the impact the result of this struggle had on the Bohemian church. The master thesis deals with the biography of Mons. ThDr. Antonin Liska CSsR (1924 - 2003), the 11th bishop of České Budějovice. It reflects different stages of his life seen on the background of the changing situation of the Catholic Church in Czechoslovakia in the second half of the 20th century. The thesis presents mainly bishop Liška's family background in the South Bohemian countryside, his religious formation in the Redemptorist order before and during the Second World War, his theology studies in the after-war years, his secret ordination during the time of the rising totalitarian communist regime, his public ministry during the so called "normalisation" period, his activities in the underground church, his involvement in the Czech ecumenical translation of the Bible, his appointment as the auxiliary bishop of Prague in 1988 and his ministry as the head of the Diocese of České Budějovice from 1991 to 2002. The thesis is primarily based on written archive sources and personal testimonies given by relatives and collaborators of bishop Liška.

History of the Czech Old Catholic Church 1990 - 1997

The thesis' main objective is to describe the development of the Czech Old Catholic Church in the first eight years after the Velvet revolution. It presents the historical context which led to significant changes in the church life after the fall of the Communist regime. The history from the Synod of Renewal till the election of Bishop Dušan Hejbal in 1991 is described from both national and international perspective. After that the thesis describes the relation between the Church and the bishops of the Union of Utrecht. The thesis uses mainly unpublished archival sources and present an analysis of this recent period of the Old Catholic history and its relation with state organs, the International Bishops' Conference, as well as the portraits of the main actors.

Legal Situation in the Diocese of Litoměřice from 1989 to 2010

The first part of the doctoral thesis approaches its topic from the historical point of view: firstly, it summarises the history of the Diocese of Litoměřice from the erection of the Chapter of Canons in 1057; secondly, it briefly describes the history of the Diocese from its foundation in 1655 to 1989; thirdly, the events from 1989 to 2010 are discussed in detail, i.e. the episcopacy of Msgr. Josef Koukl after 15 years of vacant see in the context of the reconstruction of the Diocese after the fall of the communist regime, the situation in the Diocese during the episcopacy of Bishop Pavel Posád, the following period when the Diocese was administered by Dominik Duka and finally the time after Bishop Jan Baxant took canonical possession. The second part of the doctoral thesis is divided into six chapters and approaches the chosen period thematically according to the branches of the Canon Law. It tackles the governance of the Diocese, personnel and territorial-administrative matters, the exercise of the legislative, administrative and judicial power within the establishment and application of the Canon Law from 1990 to 2010. Beginnings of Hierarchical Order in the Early Church

The issue of ecclesiastical ministries, services and offices has always attracted attention of theological scholars and church ministers. The early Christian Church shows a great variability of its organizational models. The suitable starting point for their explanation is the charismatic phenomena in the earliest Church. In the Epistle to the Ephesians, prophets stand alongside the apostles as those who form the fundaments of Church teaching. According to Luke's Acts, the imposition of hands accompanies the mediation of the Spirit during the process of being entrusted with various services in the Church. There are numerous specifications of charismata in St Paul's letters; at the same time, some of these gifts can transform into permanent offices, like those of leadership or teaching. Early Christians especially revered martyrdom, particularly that of their pastors. Itinerant prophets also enjoyed high esteem. Their pronouncements in ecstatic moments were considered inspired by the Holy Spirit. Nevertheless, itinerant missionaries potentially also presented a grave danger of heresies that could spread among the faithful. However, the constitutive role in the Church belonged undoubtedly to the apostles, the only ministry established by the Lord himself. According to Luke's writings, the concept of apostles is reduced only to the Twelve. Nevertheless, Paul in his letters appeals to his personal apostolate. Besides that, a clearer concept of apostolate in the early Church there can be found also, namely that of the missionaries. In the Jewish Christian milieu, the early Church followed in the exercise of the presbyter's ministry, known from the synagogue life. In the Pastoral Epistles, presbyters operate together with deacons and bishops as leaders of the various Churches. In the epistles of Ignatius of Antiochia, dated to the beginning of the second Christian century, the three grades of Church hierarchy, i.e. the deacons, the presbyters and the sole bishop, are mentioned as already existing. This type of monarchic episcopacy soon became the prevalent leadership model of Church organization, known throughout its history.
